Product Description

Intended Use:

The Intelligent Fingerprinting TM Drug Screening Cartridge1 for THC/COC/OPI/AMP/METH is a single use, rapid drug screening test intended for use with the Intelligent Fingerprinting Reader 1000. The test uses monoclonal antibodies to detect specific drugs or their metabolites in sweat collected from a fingerprint. Drugs and metabolites detected are the cannabis active ingredient Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol, the cocaine metabolite benzoylecgonine, opiates, and amphetamines.

The test provides a preliminary analytical result only. An alternative method must always be used in order to obtain a confirmed analytical result, such as laboratory-based Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).

This immunoassay quickly detects the presence of four drugs of abuse and/or their metabolites from fingerprint sweat. It consists of a single membrane strip mounted in a plastic Cartridge. This test detects combinations of the cannabis active ingredient Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol, the cocaine metabolite benzoylecgonine, opiates, amphetamines and Methamphetamines:

Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening System Overview

The Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening System consists of the Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening Cartridge along with the Intelligent Fingerprinting Reader 1000. The test is a fluorescence immunoassay based on the principle of competitive binding, where binding sites on the test strip compete against drugs that may be present in the sweat from a fingerprint for a specific fluorescent labelled antibody.

To activate the test, the buffer is released, dissolving the fingerprint sample and allowing it to migrate along the
test strip. When a target drug or drug metabolite is absent, or is below its threshold concentration, the antibody will bind with its respective test line rather than the free drug or drug metabolite. In this case the test will be interpreted by the Intelligent Fingerprinting Reader as a negative result. When a target drug or drug metabolite is present, and above the threshold of concentration, the binding of the antibody to its respective test line is prevented. In this
case the test is interpreted as a ‘presumptive’ positive result. A confirmation test is always necessary to confirm any screening result.

Drug-negative samples always increase line intensity in the test strip detected by the Reader, whereas a drug-positive sample will reduce line intensity. In addition to the test lines, a fifth line is detected on the test as a control line to confirm the test has been carried out in full. A pre-defined threshold for line intensity is factory set, below which a sample is interpreted as “positive” by the Reader. A drug-negative fingerprint sweat sample will generate a line in the specific drug test region that is above threshold, providing a “negative” result.

The Intelligent Fingerprinting Reader 1000 is purchased separately  and is required to see the fluorescent test and control lines, which are not visible to the naked eye. The Reader accurately detects the intensity of each line and presents the results of the test as positive or negative, according to the specified threshold. Please follow the instructions and safety information contained in the Reader 1000 User Manual and within this leaflet to ensure the safe and accurate operation of the Drug Screening System.
